Abstract

This Research Update uses data from the 1996 Northern Ireland Social AttitudesSurvey and the 2006 Northern Ireland Life and Times (NILT) Survey to examine any changes that have occured in attitudes to health services. The results present a mixed picture about public attitudes towards the NHS. While satisfaction levels in relation to theoverall running of the service are more positive than in 1996, this figure remains low compared to satisfaction with its component parts. However, in a ten-year period, and despite increased investment, people do not seem to feel that that services havesignificantly improved.
