Written and directed by Declan Keeney, Funded by PEACE III, and in association with the Playhouse Theatre and Theatre of Witness, 16:9 52mins, HD, Produced by Dumb world Productions.
Written, directed and filmed by Declan Keeney, this documentary film explores the legacy of fathers caught up on the front lines of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The film reflects on storytelling as a process for healing in a post-conflict society like Northern Ireland. As such the film itself has become a significant educational tool. In 2014, the film was featured as part of a Theatre of Witness showcase and selected as an example of best practice and one of the most successful in PEACE III funded work in peace and reconciliation at the European Parliament in Brussels. Commissioned by the 'Theatre of Witness Program' the work is based on a play by Teya Sepinuck of the same name. The film has had substantial critical success and has been shown all over the world at conferences in Duke University in America, Swarthmore in Pennsylvania, Sarajevo in Bosnia, The Museum of Modern Art in New York. It has been hosted by The Victims Commission for Northern Ireland and in Dublin by the Department of Foreign Affairs. The department of foreign affairs has also funded a programme of educational workshops that took the film around the island of Ireland to community groups, schools and colleges, exploring reconciliation. The work was also used by the PSNI in training and orientation of new recruits in G-District. 16:9 52mins HD Produced by Dumb world Productions
