Abstract

This chapters critically explores the use of sport-based interventions to benefit mental well-being of people in prison. The key concepts of mental health and mental illness are defined and prevalence figures cited for those with depression, anxiety in prisons. A rehabilitation approach is taken to support prisoner health for the benefits of both prisoners and wider society.
