    Abstract

This body of work evolved from my time at the Burren School of Art, artist in residence August 2006. I revisited this work during 2008 to create new works.I studied the semi-wilderness of the Burren, but rather than examine the vastness of the limestone landscape overall, I examined and recorded the negative spaces within the rock formations. These would normally be overlooked by the viewer, but I spent time documenting their structure and flora through photography and drawing. With this new research l have introduced printed elements onto felt, which resemble a mass of small black stitches. I have created depth and tone by overlapping the printed marks, which are embellished with coloured stitching.
