Towards Accessible and Inclusive Sport Venue Futures

This final chapter reviews the guiding objectives of the monograph and provides future directions for creating accessible and inclusive sport venues. It addresses the challenges organizations face in accommodating people with disability and emphasizes the importance of Disability Inclusion and Access Plans (DIAPs) for developing an access culture across sport venues and to encourage continuous improvement. The chapter highlights successful practices from Australia and Great Britain and strategic guidelines from UEFA and the International Paralympic Committee. It calls for multi-disciplinary research to meet the demand for accessible and inclusive sport venues, ensuring compliance with national legislation and international human rights agreements to foster equality, dignity and independence, which will do much to prevent the history of direct and indirect discrimination in the sector.
