Abstract
In this exhibition, Seawright explores the theatre of war through the internal landscape of the US television news studio. Developing Virilio’s theories about electronic warfare and weapons of mass communication, Seawright focuses here upon the illusory nature of these spaces where information is selectively transformed into news. Characteristically Seawright continues his exploration of contested spaces and illuminates an invisible aspect of contemporary conflict. The research questions the relationship between the technology of war and the technology of the reporting of conflict. The works open a dialogue between the closed space of the television studio and the invisible spaces of control associated with contemporary conflict.
