Abstract
The School of Environmental Studies at the University of Ulster has as one
of its main aims the support of students through periods of transition.
Traditionally, this has focused on inducting incoming students but increasingly
this is broadening to include the support of students as they move through
higher education and on into employment. As it is recognised that careers
development should be embedded within the curriculum we have
established an employers forum to help us identify what we should do
and how we should approach a careers education. This article describes
this approach for Environmental Studies, but the initiative could easily be
adapted for Geography and Earth Sciences programmes too
