    Abstract

An analysis of the theme of the contrast between human and divine love in Banville's late novel, The Infinities. Whilst the book may seem like a departure from his earlier work, the purpose of this paper is to illustrate how this theme has been a constant in all Banville's work, dealing as all his novels do with philosophical issues of which love is one of many.
