Abstract

This report sprovides an in depth examination of the views and attitudes of young women. While there has been much research on young people in general, rarely is this disaggregated by gender or has it had a specific focus on young women. Within the context of local and global changes over the past 30-40 years, and an agenda of participation and inclusion, this report asks how have young women fared and have equality issues been addressed. A feminist approach was adopted in the various steps of the research process, which consisted of: a literature review and discussions with young women; 7 focus groups with 48 young women; consultations with young women about the themes and format of interviews; 43 in-depth interviews with young women. The findings are presented in chapters relating to different aspects of the women's lives.
