The interview begins with Pal's childhood in India; his education in India and at Cambridge, his pioneering studies of Tibetian and Nepalese art and architecture; his career as a curator at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ; his brief stint as director at LACMA, museum administration, exhibition policies, art collections and collectors, and the presentation of Indian art history in the West.
