Abstract
Exhibition (ArtSonje Project # 3) at The Art Sonje Center of Willy Doherty’s video and photographic work .
The title of the exhibition was taken from "Remains", which is an image work that the artist filmed in 2013 in his hometown of Derry, Ireland.
"Remains" is based on the artist's interest in the relationship between landscape and memory as a work filmed in the background of these events. He deals with places that have been stained with unfired stories, some of which are forgotten, half remembered, or unconscious. Doherty uses these cameras to investigate these places in forensic detail. A long tracking shot continues in the background while a man recalls his lifelong experience of violence and control. In the middle of a man's story, an image of a burning car is interrupted, which was the motif that first appeared in the artist's work in the early 1990s and continues to this day.
In this exhibition, a series of photographs ‹Incident› (1993) and ‹Border Incident›(1994) were presented together.
