Abstract

This book contains the proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Ageing Well and e-Health. This year, ICT4AWE is held in Benidorm, Spain, on May 20-22, 2026. It was sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC). ICT4AWE 2026 was also organized in cooperation with the ACM Special Interest Group on Accessible Computing and the International Medical Informatics Association. The International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Ageing Well and e-Health aims to be a meeting point for those who study age and health-related quality of life and apply information and communication technologies to help people stay healthier, more independent, and active at work or in their community. ICT4AWE facilitates the exchange of information and dissemination of best practices, innovation, and technical improvements in the fields of age and health care, mental health, education, psychology, social coordination, and ambient assisted living. From e-Health to intelligent systems and ICT devices, the conference is a vibrant discussion and collaboration platform for all those who work in research and development and in companies that promote the quality of life and well-being of people, providing a venue for research and industrial presentations, demos, and project descriptions. ICT4AWE 2026 received 36 paper submissions from 20 countries, of which 25% were accepted and published as full papers. A double-blind paper review was conducted for each submission by at least 2, and usually 3 or more, members of the International Program Committee, composed of established researchers and domain experts. The high quality of the ICT4AWE 2026 program is enhanced by keynote lectures delivered by distinguished speakers, renowned experts in their fields: Paweł W. Woźniak (TU Wien, Austria), Saskia Kelders (University of Twente, Netherlands), and Zoraida Callejas (University of Granada, Spain). The conference is complemented by a Special Session on Information and Communication Technologies for Frailty Prevention and Monitoring, chaired by Antonio Nocera, Michela Raimondi, and Ennio Gambi. All presented papers will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library and will be submitted for evaluation for indexing by SCOPUS, Google Scholar, The DBLP Computer Science Bibliography, Semantic Scholar, Engineering Index, and Web of Science / Conference Proceedings Citation Index. Several awards, based on the combined marks for paper reviewing (assessed by the Program Committee) and the quality of the presentation (assessed by session chairs at the conference venue), are conferred at the conference's closing session as recognition for the best contributions. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions for inclusion in a forthcoming book of ICT4AWE Selected Papers to be published by Springer, as part of the CCIS Series. The program for this conference required the dedicated effort of many people. Firstly, we must thank the authors for their research efforts reported here. Next, we thank the members of the Program Committee and the auxiliary reviewers for their diligent and professional reviewing. We would also like to deeply thank the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and for taking the time to prepare their talks. Finally, a word of appreciation for the hard work of the INSTICC team; organizing a conference of this level requires the collaborative effort of a dedicated, highly competent team. We wish you all an exciting and inspiring conference. We hope to have contributed to the development of our research community, and we look forward to having additional research results presented at the next edition of ICT4AWE, details of which are available at https://ict4awe.scitevents.org.
