Abstract
This presentation focuses on student and beginning teachers' engagement with the aims and objectives of citizenship education. Using the findings from two studies, it considers the challenges of preparing young people to become reflective citizens, empowered to engage with a wide range of issues concerning democracy, diversity and social justice.
