Abstract
Cargnelli current research focuses on the analysis of the concepts of ‘self-organisation’, ‘collaboration’ and ‘resistance’ - intended as intrinsic characteristics of small-scale artists-led initiative, in contrast with the heavily hierarchical, largely funded, bigger-scale institutions, and well supported mainstream arts representative. In particular, the researcher is looking at feminist artists’ collectives, analysing their self-organised structures as form of resistance and emancipation against the hegemonic power. Prolific women’s artists collaborations often creates informal liaisons between peers - and so friendship becomes a vehicle of empowerment.
