Abstract

Three peptides derived from diazepam-binding inhibitor (DBI), an endogenous ligand for the benzodiazepine receptor, were isolated from an extract of frog brain and their primary structures were determined. On the basis of the amino acid sequence data, a cDNA encoding frog DBI was isolated from a whole brain cDNA library. This cDNA was used to study DBI gene expression in various frog tissues by Northern blot analysis, RT-PCR and in situ hybridization.
