Abstract
New and selected poems by leading Japanese poet Mutsuo Takahashi, translated by Mitsuko Ohno and Frank Sewell; with an introduction by literary critic Nobuaki Tochigi. This is a new hardback edition of a bilingual book (Japanese-English) originally published in 2006 by Dedalus Press (Dublin). Poet Mutsuo Takahashi has been designated by the Japanese Government as Bunkakorosha (a Person of Cultural Merit), and in 2017 he became a member of the Japan Arts Academy. In 2020, co-translator Mitsuko Ohno was awarded Ireland's Presidential Distinguished Service Award for her work as a professor, critic, translator, and promoter of Irish literature in a global context.
