OffShoot TV presents FLUX (Series 1): Podcasting as research: fostering inclusive, dialogic and participatory learning

Research output: Non-textual formDigital or Visual Products

Abstract

Flux is a practice-led pedagogical research initiative that explores how podcasting can function as a dialogic and accessible learning medium within art and design education. Developed throughout 2024 and launched in May 2025 at the Belfast School of Art, the project addresses the need for inclusive, conversational approaches to critical engagement, particularly for learners who may find academic texts challenging. The first series comprises five publicly available episodes hosted by Dr Lyndsey McDougall and produced with OffShoot TV, a student-led media platform. Student collaboration in recording, editing and visual documentation embedded a co-creative learning process aligned with research-led teaching practices. Featuring practitioners from design, textile history, curation and performance, the podcast presents accessible case studies that connect professional insight with student learning.
