Abstract

Lords of the Sea examines the archaeology and history of the sea lords and coastal communities who lived on the western seaboard of Ireland and Scotland throughout the later Middle Ages. Three decades of research reveal how these maritime communities were shaped by their relationships with the sea whilst remaining bound to the wider socio-political networks of Europe.
