Abstract

The paper seeks to summarise and identify the main similarities and differences between Northern Ireland and other jurisdictions in the UK, paying particular attention to the political context, the nature of Northern Irish society and what is currently known about the scope and size of voluntary action, before seeking to identify the state of current relations with government and the key drivers of change.
