Abstract

This paper summarises a laboratory investigation into the early life development of 6mm, 10mm and 14mm SMA thin surfacing properties. Roller compactor slabs were prepared using aggregate from the same source. The slabs were subjected to accelerated wear testing using the Road Test Machine located at the University of Ulster. Simulated trafficking was continued until the slab surface reached equilibrium in terms of wet skid resistance. The change in surfacing properties for each mix was determined
