Abstract

This books considers the emergence of a national cinema in Ireland since the 1970s. It explores the history of Irish cultural nationalism to explain the recurring themes and obsessions of Irish cinema and looks at the social and economic changes that shaped the cinema of the 'Celtic Tiger' period. The film includes detailed analyses of key films.
