Abstract

This article considers the early development of broadcasting in Ireland and links this with increasing European influence in contemporary Ireland to argue that public service broadcasting (PSB), in Ireland and Britain should develop more towards a 'PBS-of-the regions' rather than maintain its centralised structures and ideology.
