N2 - This innovation and operations project has brought new products and customers, and a business model focus to ABC Nutrition, whilst freeing up valuable strategic management time to drive business growth. The original project aim to develop and commercialise weight loss programme products was addressed. However, the other original project aim to optimize the company’s powder, spray vitamin and capsule manufacturing operations was modified to focus solely on the company's branded range of powder and spray vitamin products. Evidence of achievement exists in the form of new sports nutrition products formulated to meet the needs of target customers, the company’s online presence, securement of new international customers, and the set up and launch of a branded range of meal replacement products. The knowledge resulting from the project has helped to critically review the company’s spray vitamin business, and redirect resources towards higher margin company branded powder products. Furthermore results from the project have helped the company to establish and optimise production of the branded meal replacement products for an Irish pharmacy chain and to achieve ISO9001 (2008). In addition to the transfer of product development and nutrition knowledge from the Northern Ireland Centre for Food and Health, the Department of Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Strategy has helped reshape the company’s business plan. In November 2009, the company received a national award for its entrepreneurial spirit.
