Abstract

Drawn stage curtains confront the viewer in this diptych. The shabbiness of the curtains is at odds with their theatrical context. The closed curtains act as a threshold, the space in front empty, the space behind concealed and unknown. They act as a visual metaphor for the act of passing from one space to another, be it physical or psychological. Details: Diptych, ‘Space of Doubt’ (2000) each measuring 122 cm x 152 cm, colour c.type photographic prints. Edition of three.
