The research journey served the study the unknown. MODENA Modena is an Italian city with high immigration from countries around the European borders. I was asked to create a work that gives the »invisible« population of this city a voice. I created a sound installation by playing the sound of the public space in neighbouring countries in Modena. The audio tracks were taken between 2003 and 2004 in the following countries: Turkey, Bosnia Herzegovina and Macedonia. All three countries are in geographical proximity to Italy, at the borders of the new Europe. All sounds were taken from the public realm. | Public work outside: From the bell tower of the Chiesa di San Paolo and Chiesa delle Monache the soundtracks of several Muezzins mixed into each other calling for prayer has been played daily from 28.Mai to 10. July 2005 between 17 and 19.30 h every 30 minutes for approx. three minutes. | Interior work: Turkey, Bosnia Herzegovina and Macedonia are in geographical proximity to Italy, at the borders of the European Union. Several audio devices play a CD with a short temporal delay in the interior of the bell tower of the Galleria della Provincia Modena. The sound was taped in streets, markets, churches, forests, parks Publication: The Bauhaus moves/ La Bauhaus si muove, editors: Dr. Julia Draganovic and Andrea Dietrich, Catalogue of group exhibition with artists of the Bauhaus University Weimar as guests in Modena, 28 May - 10 July 2005, pg. 16-17
