The Department for the Economy commissioned a report to inform the skills and capabilities required to support innovative growth, with a deeper focus on the three priority areas for innovation: accelerating research and development, delivering more and better innovation driven enterprises and encouraging and supporting more businesses to innovate.

This report will form a key evidence base informing policy going forward to progress the Ministerial goals of increased productivity, good jobs, regional balance and decarbonisation.

Detailed overview

This report includes a systematic review of existing innovation competency frameworks, outlines findings from stakeholder engagements and provides an analysis of findings including a set of recommendations for policy and practice relevant to the local economy.
