Abstract

The thermotolerant ethanol producing Kluyveromyces marxianus IMB3 yeast was used in eight 60m(3) fermenters for industrial ethanol production in India using sugarcane molasses. Ethanol ranged between 6.0-7.2% (w/v) with added advantages of elimination of cooling during fermentation and shorter fermentation periods of 20h.
