Abstract

This letter contains opinions, statements and perspectives as expressed during a workshop on education, held on 21st October 2023 in conjunction with the 14th International Association for Fire Safety Science (IAFSS) Symposium. These resulted from a panel discussion in an interactive manner with the audience, focusing on competence in Fire Safety Engineering (FSE) as a central theme in the context of the built environment industry. The panel represented industry, consultancy, academia and PhD students as different stakeholders related to FSE.
