Abstract
Hexagram of the Heavens takes as its starting point the innovative electric bass playing of Jaco Pastorius on recordings of Joni Mitchell. Gestures used by Pastorius are harmonically filtered through permutations of the all triad hexachord, generating fragments of material which are ordered freely by the performer. The electronic soundtrack comprises computer transformations of recorded samples of Simon Jermyn's 6-string electric bass.
