abstract = "This was a practice contribution as a chapter in Frederick UK, Harrison A, Ireland T & Magee J (eds.) Difficult Conversations. Northern Ireland: British Council. This publication is the result of a partnership between the British Council, Ulster University and the University of Canberra, initiated as part of the 2022 UK/Australia Season – itself a partnership between the British Council and the Australian Government{\textquoteright}s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This essay series focuses on the roles of the arts, creativity and culture in helping to navigate provocative and divisive issues in our communities. Wallace's practice contribution consisted of two paintings, Golden Delicious and Midnight Feast, both of which featured in her solo exhibition 'Midnight Feast' at The MAC Belfast and were a response to the memory of back gardens on housing estates in West Belfast during the conflict. They paintings evidence meaningful, and potentially reparative, engagement with past trauma and conflicts and their lingering impacts in the present day. They represent overlooked female narratives from the NI conflict as they relate to maternal mental health and childcare.",
