Giuliano Campo Italian Political Theatre as a Strategy for Theatre Policy: Dario Fo’s Monologues

    Abstract

When invited to the HumorFest conference in November 2007 at East Carolina University, I introduced my talk on political theatre and the monologues of Dario Fo with a solo Harlequin performance entitled “Harlequin Discovers America.” The ten-minute sketch was based on some classic lazzi—basic improvisational techniques according to Commedia dell’Arte terminology—slightly modified and re-interpreted, taking some views of contemporary political theatre into consideration.link: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-cas/engl/humorfest/upload/Campo-on-Dario-Fo-Monologues-Revised-August-11-2008-5.pdf
