Abstract
Generative AI (GenAI) has fundamentally reshaped assessment in higher education, challenging traditional practices and raising issues of authenticity and integrity. This session introduces a 10-stage audit tool to identify vulnerabilities and redesign tasks for AI-resilient, authentic learning. GenAI excels in predictable, language-driven tasks but struggles with contextualised, reflective, and process-based assessments. Strategies include embedding scaffolding, integrating local context, requiring process artefacts, and clarifying acceptable AI use. Emphasising transparency, equity, and continual enhancement, the presentation supports educators in creating assessments aligned with learning outcomes while anticipating AI’s role. Authentic assessment is framed as proactive, protecting students from the GenAI “tar pit.”
