Abstract
This chapter explores the critical issues of food poverty and food insecurity, highlighting their prevalence and impact on individuals and societies. It explores the consequences these issues have on health, nutrition, and ultimately, food choices which are dictated and constrained by individual circumstances. It analyses interventions designed to alleviate food poverty and insecurity including charitable food assistance and social protection. It concludes with lessons learned and recommendations for striving for a future where everyone has access to adequate and nutritious food (i.e.) food security for all to meet the international agreements and commitments related to the human right to food and Zero Hunger.
