Abstract
This peer-reviewed article – commissioned as part of the regular column on fashion photography that I have been writing for Source magazine since 2018 – looks at Matthieu Nicol’s recent book, Fashion Army, published by SPBH Editions in 2025. It focuses on contemporary fashion photography’s debt to the history of documentary photography.
