Abstract
This article looks at Tyler Mitchell's call for "a Black utopia" in fashion photography to address a history of misrepresentation and effacement in the medium. It considers his recent monograph, I Can Make You Feel Good, as well as his work for i-D, Dazed, Document, Office, Fader and Vogue, in particular his images of Beyoncé for America Vogue in September 2018.
