Abstract

engage is an eParticipation toolkit developed under the Parterre Project, which was part funded by the European Commission under the CIP (ICT-PSP) Programme 2009. The source code is available under the Affero GPLv3.The application is designed to support citizen engagement within a Town Meeting-style environment, using tablets to gather comments and voting data from round table discussion groups. The results can be visualised on a projector screen in real-time, and compiled into a report for delivery to participants at the end of the event. The software has been trialled with over 300 users at a number of different events within the Parterre Project.Initial project funding is now finished, and the University is currently looking for alternative sources of funding to continue to develop the software. It is hoped that wider adoption of the software will lead to further contributions and improvements.
