Abstract
The aim of the SIG was directed at improving student experiences through enhanced teaching practices, whilst also increasing the quality of scholarship and educational research undertaken within planning education. It was anticipated that the establishment of a virtual network could offer the potential to strengthen future multi-centre projects and joint-funding bids for educational research. Hopefully, this site also provides a platform for those individuals who have been developing educational practice to publish this material in peer-reviewed education journals, in addition, for example, to providing shorter case studies for dissemination on the web. The specific SIG objectives were to:Identify and link educators active in pedagogical research in order to improve our understanding and dissemination of teaching practices and to provide mutual support; Identify areas where research is being carried out and identify potential gaps for research; and identify key aspects of the delivery of education in planning schools. Identify where practitioners and academics might fruitfully work together; Set up a virtual network to facilitate collaborative research and joint funding applications; Identify the interests of journal editors in planning pedagogy and the needs of colleagues wishing to publish educational research.
