Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This was a requested chapter from the editors. The chapter explores a number of contradictions in the research on ecotourism. These included the absence of an agreed definition and key characteristics that make up a workable definition, the challenges to be ethical in its pursuit, the absence of substantial economic benefit to local regions, the challenge of local ownership and stewardship of the ecotourism resource, and where research on ecotourism should develop in the future.
