Abstract

Being an early career legal academic and navigating the challenges which come with modern higher education involves a complex mix of different identities and practices. Whilst no two journeys through this career stage will be identical, there are many shared experiences and common difficulties – as well as ways to overcome them – common across institutions and roles. This guide bring together contributions from over a dozen legal academics of differing career stages, reflecting on their own experiences and giving advice and key tips for those on similar journeys.

To highlight the connections between different elements of professional practice, the guide makes use of internal links at the end of each entry which ask you where next by selecting from a range of connected entries. We hope that this interactivity inspires you to see connections with other aspects of your own practice and – if inspiration strikes and you have a reflection of your own – we would love for you to get in touch to discuss featuring this in a later update to the guide: please find our contact details below.
