Developing a mental health promotion booklet for young people with learning disabilities.

Abstract

Little has been published about mental healthpromotion literature for young people with learningdisabilities. The aim of this study was to develop amental health promotion booklet developed by youngpeople with learning disabilities for young peoplewith learning disabilities. A qualitative methodologyusing four focus groups with young people withlearning disabilities was employed, repeatedfive-times over a six-month period. The young peopleidentified the six key themes to be addressed in thebooklet with accompanying colourful and energeticpictures. This lively booklet is a valued resource forpractitioners in the field of learning disabilities.
