Abstract
Severe and possibly fatal arrhythmic events have been linked to patients with ventricular late potentials; the present study focused on the frequency domain method for identification of late potentials. Three groups of subjects, healthy volunteers and (patients with or without myocardial infarction and/or cardiovascular disease) were examined. Frequency domain analysis incorporated two different start and stop points for the Fast Fourier Transformation and four percentage parameter values for area ratio to identify the presence of late potentials. The results indicated that the start and stop points employed and the parameter values used for area ratio calculations for the Fast Fourier Transformation, will influence the incidence of late potential detection.
