Abstract

These images of empty industrial interiors in a state of disarray are strewn with discarded objects and equipment that hint at the spaces’ previous use. Each dilapidated space is subtly lit and emits an uneasy stillness. These photographs trace the past life of one building. Its inhabitants long gone, it appears caught in a permanent state of stasis. This series deviates from the large-scale. The small scale of these images, combined with the atmosphere of stasis in the photographs, gives these works a quality of time that is hard to define. Details: Series of eight works, entitled, ‘The Graves of Dead Business I, II, III, IV’ (2000), ‘The Still Room I, II’ (2000), ‘Woodhall Duckham Vickers Zimmer I, II’ (2000), colour c.type photographic prints, 10 cm x 13 cm.
