    Abstract

This experiment seeks to address undergraduate NMR learning by means of a series of simple ‘green’ synthetic organic chemistry experiments. A range of microwave addition elimination reactions has been designed which allows compounds with different NMRresponsive functionality to be synthesised, purified and analysed within the space of a3-hour time slot. The compounds give spectra that are clearly resolved, with well defined peaks but still sufficiently challenging at the undergraduate level.
