Abstract

The value of holistic coaching has been increasingly recognised as core to the development of those involved in sport. But what does this mean? To find a definition of the term ‘holisitic coaching’, do we go with a dictionary definition? Or for those involved in coaching, is there a need to look for a wider definition? When considering this term in the realms of children and young people, we need to define it clearly. We also need to ensure that those working to create a holistic coaching environment understand what, why and how they do this in practice. It is about establishing that blend of theory and practice and vice versa, and more importantly, what it looks like on the ground for children’s coaches.
