Abstract

This paper is presented to give insights into two parallel objectives. Firstly, to share the results of a pilot project involving a convenience sample of people with dementia and their carers. Secondly, insights regarding the reflections of an experienced clinical nurse, (GO’D) leading a research project for the first time. By 2025, it is estimated that there will be one million people with dementia in the UK (Alzheimers Society, 2019). Strategies for future care provision are currently being devised to help deal with the growing numbers of people with dementia. Innovative living environments that aim to empower people with dementia and their carers to enjoy better health and quality of life with reduced dependence on institutional care are needed (Enshaeifar et al., 2018). As technology is rapidly advancing it is important that any opportunities it affords are also considered as means to promote care in the future.
