Abstract

The second venue for Border Crossing was the Chateau du Val Fleury in Montrouge, France was made in response to recent news footage of migration and the journeys made by hundreds of thousands of people searching for a safe route across European borders.

The piece depicts this passage in gold threads against a dark background and is constructed by creating thousands of individual blocks of stitch.

The work is constructed using layers of industrial machine stitch and is the third piece in a series exploring industrial stitch, layers, collage, composition and space.
