Abstract

This paper is a conceptual analysis of Airbnb, its evolution as a disruptor that goes beyond the disruption. Evaluating whether the model of Airbnb can be considered as a truly disruptive innovation within the context licensed accommodations, expanding on the key frameworks of Christensen to identify a definition of disruptive innovation that is more applicable to the licensed accommodations sector. This paper could provide insight necessary to develop an entirely new definition of disruption innovation within the context of peer-to-peer disruption phenomena on the licensed accommodations sector.
