Becoming Evie Hone: the An Túr Gloine years, 1933-1943

Abstract

This article considers for the first time Evie Hone’s time at Ireland’s leading stained glass workshop An Tur Gloine (The Tower of Glass) from 1933 to 1943. It looks at her relations with its Founder, Sarah Purser, its leading artist, Michael Healy, and chronicles her successive commissions, before she left to set up her own studio at Marlay in 1944.
