Abstract
Golf is the world's largest sports-related travel market. More tourists travel the world in relation to golf each year than any other sport. This work applies golf tourism, and particularly the hosting of a major golf event, to the TALC model and with regard to how it can act as a catalyst for coastal resort rejuvenation. The chapter explores this through an in-depth examination of The Open at Royal Portrush and the growth impact of golf and golf tourism in this coastal region of Northern Ireland.
