Afternoon Landscape with Tall Trees and Balcony

Research output: Other contributionpeer-review

Abstract

This series explores the relationship, and conflict, between nature and the man-made. The concrete façade of brutalist architecture intersects the foreground of the picture plane interrupting an expanse of foliage from the treetops, which form the background of the image. The third image in the series shows the view below, a park, revealing that the nature in these scenes is just as constructed as the architecture that sits alongside it. Details: Series of three works, entitled, ‘Afternoon Landscape with Tall Trees and Balcony I, II, III’, (2007), each measuring 80 cm x 100 cm, colour lightjet photographic prints mounted on dibond. Edition of three.
